From Amazon Prime locating its worldwide hub at CVG to the continued progress of the I-71/MLK Interchange, the energy across our eight-county region is palpable. Dearborn Co. Commissioner Kevin Lynch Re-Elected OKI President

Dearborn County Commissioner Kevin Lynch will continued serving as the president of OKI in 2016. “I appreciate the Board of Directors electing me President for a second year. I am thankful for their confidence and continued support,” Lynch said in a statement.

The OKI board adopted an improvement plan for Ky. 536. This segment of the roadway, located between Ky. 17 and the Kenton and Campbell county line, is the only remaining section of the entire corridor that does not have a preferred alternative or improvement plan in place. OKI board officers and leadership visited the National Association of Regional Councils’ 2016 National Conference of Regions. While in D.C., they visited with our Congressional delegation on Capitol Hill to discuss Brent Spence Bridge federal funding opportunities.

Board president, Kevin Lynch, recognized six terrific people who have committed their professional lives to serving our community. Congratulations to Robyn Bancroft, Chuck Holliday, G. OKI Board Approves 2040 Plan

The OKI board unanimously approved the 2040 Regional Transportation Plan. The plan contains projects to be implemented over the next 20 plus years to create a multi-modal and coordinated regional road map for guiding transportation improvements through the year 2040.

Tri-State Trails Award Winner

OKI was honored to accept the Organization of the Year Award from Tri-State Trails. Tri-State Trails was an invaluable partner throughout the 2040 planning process, providing recommendations of prioritized multi-use trail corridors. Your advocacy for trails to revitalize our communities and connect the region resulted in a dramatic increase of bike and pedestrian projects across the region.

OKI wins Award for Solar Map

OKI’s Solar Ready map, developed by Brandon Flessner, David Shuey & Brad Mason, won 1st place in the Ohio GIS Conference’s Digital Map Gallery contest in Columbus. The map was also the winner of the “People’s Choice” award for the best online mapping application as voted on by conference attendees.

OKI Awards $77 million in Projects

OKI warded more than $77 million to be distributed to 42 transportation projects in the region. Some project Highlights include: – Revamp of the existing SR129/Liberty Way Interchange along I-75 – Mason SR 741 Widening – Harrison Ave. Widening – Montgomery Road – Ronald Reagan Hwy interchange reconstruction – 1,300 ft of commuter trail for Wasson Way – Deer Park Bike/Ped Network improvement – 1.3 miles of multi-use path for the Miami University Connector – TANK, SORTA and BCRTA Bus Replacements – South Monmouth Underpass in Newport – Boone Co. OKI Board Adopts Bright-74 Study

An extensive public involvement program was undertaken by OKI for the Bright I-74 Study. Several hundred residents attended the meetings and took the online surveys. The majority of residents did not feel that any new off alignment roadway connectors linking Bright with I-74 were needed. The majority of residents felt that maintenance to existing roadways and minimizing property and environmental impacts while preserving the rural quality of the area were the paramount needs. Based on this, the Study recommended enhanced maintenance to the existing roadways as a short-term priority with long-term reconstruction of North Dearborn and Whites Hill Road to meet the Study’s purpose and need as funding becomes available.

OKI has developed an interactive, web-based tool through which everyone can learn about their community’s water resources. Whether you are an interested resident, business owner or local official, our My Community’s Water tool is a user-friendly way to understand how water supports your community.
